About Love Always Veterinary Care

I have always shared my life with animals.  While I didn’t always know I wanted to be a vet, I can’t imagine any career that could have been more meaningful to me than veterinary medicine, and particularly veterinary hospice and palliative care. I'm deeply grateful everyday that I am able to spend my working hours in the presence of animals.

Dr. Kelly Chandler, DVM, CVA, CHPV

I grew up on the east coast, met my husband in Kentucky in undergraduate school, received my DVM from Purdue University in 1988 and moved straight to California where I started my career in small animal practice. I became certified in veterinary acupuncture in 2004, and began a house call service in 2005, mostly as a way for me to be available to raise my children.  This style of practice put me in contact with many geriatric pets, and is where I started helping families navigate end of life for their animal companions in the comfort of their homes.

It wasn’t until I did my own grief work as part of a program called The Healer’s Art, in which I volunteered as a facilitator for veterinary students at UC Davis from 2015-2017, that I recognized my calling to hospice and palliative care. I am so grateful to have found this sacred work in veterinary medicine. My goal is to work with you and your family veterinarian to improve the experience of your beloved animal companions as they journey through end of life, and to support you as you care for them during the beautiful and tender time.
